Airplanes, Pumpkins and Ghouls!

So today I flew back to SFO to enjoy putting the finishing touches on the house and get it all ready for BC’s first “stay-over.” It’s time to turn the house into a home. Stack the dishes, buy some pots and pans, and actually cook on my fabulous Bertazzoni Stove!
It’s also time to enjoy the neighborhood, and that includes the Pumpkins and very imaginative and enthusiastic Halloween festivities…Goblins, Ghost, Ghouls, Haunted Houses, Costumes and lots of Trick or Treating. More will follow on this next week.
Our Bi-Coastal adventure continues, like the song, “now that we’ve found love what are we gonna do with it?” I guess the simple answer is, so far so good, the rest we’ll figure it out, and always enjoy the ride!

The House That BC&Babs Built!

The house will not be a home till BC gets here, that said, I'm in! Yes, finally. I've had a bowl of pasta and a glass of wine and have slept in it. I'm happy to report it's fabulous! A neighbor passed by the other day and commented, "this house is too pretty to be left outside." How sweet. I have to take a moment to thank our brother-in-law Sam. Sam is the architect of our dream house and he worked out the architectural design without ever having set foot in it. He did it all from photos and our descriptions, and lots of phone calls from the site. It's truly an amazing accomplishment and a testament to his skill, talent and love for us. While there is still more to be done to get it all just right, the fact that I can write this to you now is nothing short of amazing and reconfirms that you can do anything. It takes a vision and a plan. And yes, lots of love and support from friends and family. More on that later...now let me take you inside. Enjoy!

Forget Prada, the Devil's in the Details!

HI All,
Lots has been happening here on the "Left Coast" Meg Whitman not withstanding, and I'm happy to report she's not standing too well in the polls either! I digress...
BC had been out here for a nice long stay and we had some company. Phyllis and Iris came out for a visit and although the house was not quite ready for prime time, thanks to the kindness of our friends Fred and Annette and the lovely Oceano Hotel in Princeton Beach we made it work. Showed them the sites and sounds of the coast, tasted the grape up in Napa, took in the SF sites and had a blast!
BC is back in the Big Apple now and I'm here cracking the whip...more like slinging the dust rag. It's getting close now...and yes, the Devil's in the Details!

Almost Ready for Prime Time

There are days when I think the house will never be finished and then there are those when I know it's within reach. Today is betwixt and between...the push is on for me to be able to move in by the weekend, perhaps as early as Friday...it seems within reach, keep your fingers crossed. Jamie and Co. are working hard to make it happen. The bed has been put together, floors installed, radiant heat warming my toes, hot and cold running water, shoji screens assembled, lighting tweaked, door locks in place, all the moving parts are coming together. So stay tuned...we're almost ready for prime time!

Finishing Touches

This whole posting thing gets a little giggy at times...the previous post mixed up the pictures...duplicates, whatever. My apologies.
Here's a few shots of the finishing touches being executed with great care and detail by Jamie&Co.
I hope to be in for real within the month. Everything is moving really fast now. The floor and door details will be the last things to go in. Stay tuned...

Not Quite Ready for My Closeup Mr. DeMille

Howdy folks!
I know it's been a few weeks since I last reported on all the goings on at 432 Vermont and I apologize for keeping you all in the dark. Truth is Jamie&Co have been very busy putting on the finishing touches. While the house is not quite ready for prime time BC & I have had our share of visitors...
Bonnie, Julie & Jordyn stopped by for a sneak preview on their way to Hawaii. Lisa & Scott joined us for a few nights before we all headed down to LA for Ira & Gails's son Zack's wedding. The Gibson's weren't able to sleep in the house but that didn't stop Lisa from claiming her room for the next visit...The Studio/Situation Room is hers!

Who's That Knocking At My Door?

I leave for Moss Beach on Wednesday. Here's what we've seen happening at the house so far as Jamie and Co. prepare Casa BC&Babs for prime time! Bathrooms have been tiled. Kitchen cabinets and sink installed...can the granite be far behind!?!
And most significantly, we have our front door! Please knock so we can open up the speak-easy part (since we're in the SF Bay Area, more like the "Wizard of OZ") to see who it is. Can't wait! Stay tuned for more up to the minute reports in the next week or so. Enjoy!
